Rules
1. General
(a) The Rules of the Lawn Tennis Association shall be the Rules of the Club as regards play and conduct.
(b) All applications must be approved by the Committee.
(c) All Members and Visitors must be mindful of the residents adjoining the Club premises and act in a manner which will not cause them unnecessary disruption or disturbance. Access to the courts will be gained on foot or by bike via Lealands Avenue. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES MAY CARS BE DRIVEN INTO OR PARKED IN LEALANDS AVENUE. It is recommended that cars be parked by the Green in the places provided.
(d) Players are requested to wear only recognised tennis clothing on court together with tennis shoes with clean, NON-MARKING soles.
(e) Keys for entry to the premises and facilities will be issued to Members.
(f) The last person to leave the Club premises must ensure that the Club House, the courts and the gate at Lealands Avenue are all locked. Any damage noticed should be reported promptly to a Committee Member.
(g) Dogs are permitted on the Club premises if kept on a lead, but are not allowed on the courts or in the Club House.
(h) Playing on the courts shall only take place between 9.00 a.m. and 9.30 p.m.
(i) Only players and any officials involved in the games are permitted on the courts whilst play is in progress.
(j) Members and Visitors putting bicycles, racquets, clothing or other property in or at the Club premises do so at their own risk, the Club not being responsible for any loss, damage or injury caused thereto or thereby howsoever arising or of whatsoever nature.
(k) The Committee may suspend or terminate the membership of any Member or otherwise exclude any Member or Visitor whom it considers in breach of these Rules or to have conducted themselves in a manner unbecoming to the well-being of the Club.
Before a final decision upon suspension or termination is made, the Member shall be entitled to appeal. The appeal shall be heard by members of the Committee.
2. Playing times
(a) A booking system for senior Members subject to the Committee’s discretion in case of abuse (if any) will operate in accordance with the schedule hereto. Unless otherwise prescribed each booking will be limited to one hour.
(b) Subject to 2(a) hereof and excluding Club tournaments or as otherwise prescribed by the Committee,
(i) doubles play takes precedence over singles, and in order to be fair to all Members, those playing give way to those waiting to play, at the end of the set being played (within the principle of 3(a) hereof).
3. Sessions
(a) A Club session is tennis organised between Members at and during times specified in the Schedule hereto in accordance with the prescribed system (see Club Notice Board).
(b) During Club sessions a set shall be decided by a tie-breaker at 6-6. If Members are waiting to play the court shall be vacated at the end of the set.
4. Visitors
(a) Any person who is not a Member of the Club may play only six times in any Club year (1 April – 31 March) and then only accompanied by a Member.
(b) Members must pay the appropriate fee for each Visitor.
